HIGH-LEVEL COURTESY AUDIENCE - North West MPs Reaffirm Their Loyalty to Speaker Datouo Théodore

In a significant demonstration of parliamentary solidarity and institutional cohesion, Members of Parliament from Cameroon’s North West Region on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honourable Datouo Théodore, reaffirming their confidence in his leadership and pledging their unwavering support for his stewardship of the country’s foremost legislative institution.
The delegation was received by the Speaker in his Cabinet at the National Assembly, where both sides held a closed-door meeting lasting close to an hour. The audience provided an opportunity for wide-ranging discussions on parliamentary cooperation, institutional cohesion, legislative priorities and the collective responsibility of Members of Parliament in strengthening democratic governance.
The North West parliamentary delegation was led by Honourable Njingum Musa, Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North and Quaestor of the National Assembly. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Hon. Njingum Musa explained that although each Member of Parliament had personally congratulated the Right Honourable Speaker following his election in March 2026, it was both fitting and necessary for the region’s parliamentary caucus to pay a collective courtesy visit.
He stated that the audience was intended to formally reassure the Speaker of the North West MPs’ loyalty, confidence and readiness to work closely with him in promoting the dignity of Parliament and ensuring the effective discharge of the National Assembly’s constitutional mandate.
The delegation further reiterated its commitment to fostering unity within the House and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing legislative performance, parliamentary oversight and representation of the Cameroonian people.
The audience brought together lawmakers representing constituencies across the North West Region, underscoring the broad-based support enjoyed by the Speaker within the regional caucus. Present at the meeting were Hon. Njingum Musa, MP for Ngoketunjia North and Quaestor of the National Assembly; Hon. Banmi Emmanuel, MP for Ngoketunjia South/Balikumbat; Hon. Ngala Gérard, MP for Donga-Mantung Central; Hon. Kwei Andrew Mngo, MP for Bui; Hon. Injoh Prodencia Foo’Ngang, MP for Momo East; Hon. Awutah Philip Atubah, MP for Momo West; Hon. Adamu Edward Lambe, MP for Donga-Mantung (Nwa); Hon. Kum John Nji, MP for Menchum; Hon. Manju Nestus Fru, MP for Mezam; Hon. Ngah Estela Shalai, MP for Bui; and Hon. Fonyuy Fostine Verla, MP for the Jakiri constituency in Bui Division.
The nearly one-hour audience reflected the Speaker’s continued engagement with parliamentary caucuses from across the country as part of his consultative approach to leadership. It also highlighted the importance of dialogue and consensus-building in reinforcing the effectiveness of Parliament as the cornerstone of Cameroon’s democratic institutions.
Since assuming office in March 2026, the Right Honourable Datouo Théodore has continued to receive parliamentary delegations, diplomatic representatives and institutional partners in line with his vision of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, promoting inclusive legislative governance and consolidating the National Assembly’s role in national development.
The courtesy audience concluded with a renewed commitment by the North West lawmakers to work in close collaboration with the Speaker in advancing legislative excellence, preserving the integrity of Parliament and serving the best interests of the Cameroonian people.
