Female workers of the Cameroon National Assembly joined the global community on Saturday, March 8, 2026, to commemorate International Women’s Day with a colourful and spirited celebration at the institution’s headquarters, popularly known as the Paul Biya Glass House.

After a week marked by intense preparations, sporting competitions, and humanitarian activities, the women of the legislative institution gathered in a festive atmosphere to crown their efforts with a memorable ceremony dedicated to the recognition of women’s contributions within and beyond the parliamentary environment.

The activities were championed by Fadimatou Cavaye, whose leadership and encouragement gave the celebrations a special touch. Throughout the week, the organisational process was meticulously coordinated by Awudu Mabel Epse Ndikum, who ensured that every detail of the programme was carefully executed.

The official ceremony was chaired by Muyali Mary Epse Meboka, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, who attended as the special representative of Madam Fadimatou Cavaye, wife of the Speaker, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.

In her remarks during the event, the Chairperson of the Organising Committee, Madam Awudu Mabel Epse Ndikum, praised the commitment and unity demonstrated by the female staff throughout the week of activities.

She urged women to continue embodying responsibility, professionalism, and solidarity in both their professional duties and personal lives.

“The celebration of International Women’s Day is not only a moment of joy,” she noted, “but also an opportunity for women to reaffirm their commitment to excellence, responsibility, and service to the nation.”

The gathering reflected a strong spirit of camaraderie among the female workforce of the National Assembly, highlighting their invaluable role in supporting the smooth functioning of Cameroon’s legislative institution.

As the festivities unfolded in a lively and elegant atmosphere, the celebration served as both a tribute to women’s achievements and a renewed call for greater dedication to the values of hard work, unity, and empowerment.

The event concluded with moments of cultural display, shared reflections, and expressions of gratitude, leaving participants with a deep sense of pride in their collective contribution to the parliamentary institution and to the broader advancement of women in society.
