In a renewed push to restore harmony and social cohesion in Ndu Subdivision, the Ndu Council has convened an inclusive peace dialogue that brought together traditional, religious, political, and community stakeholders from across the municipality.

The peace talks, organized at the invitation of the Mayor of Ndu Council, El Hadji Abdou Kanfon Borno, witnessed the active participation of Honourable Mbongnyor Naomi Ngando, Member of Parliament for the Ndu Constituency, alongside a broad spectrum of local actors committed to rebuilding peace.

The high-level gathering brought together representatives of all active forces within the municipality, cutting across ethnic, religious, and social lines. Among those in attendance were 11 Fons, seven Ardos, youth leaders from both farming and grazing communities, Christian pastors, Muslim imams, sub-chiefs from major quarters of Ndu, as well as elites drawn from different parts of the country.

Held in a calm yet emotionally charged atmosphere, the meeting provided a rare platform for open dialogue. Participants spoke candidly about the pain and exhaustion caused by prolonged insecurity, including recurring killings, kidnappings for ransom, and persistent theft that have continued to undermine peaceful coexistence in the subdivision.

In a unified voice, stakeholders declared their collective rejection of violence, stressing that the population of Ndu is weary of bloodshed and yearns for stability, security, and normalcy. Calls were repeatedly made for an immediate cessation of violence and the restoration of lasting peace.

After extensive working sessions, participants unanimously resolved to set aside differences and collaborate across communities to give peace a genuine chance. Concrete commitments were made by traditional authorities, religious leaders, youth representatives, and political actors to serve as ambassadors of dialogue within their respective communities.

To ensure sustainability of the resolutions reached, the Ndu Council announced that follow-up actions and peace-building mechanisms will be coordinated through the Peace, Justice and Reconciliation Initiative, an institutional framework created by the council to promote long-term stability and community healing.

Speaking through their actions and consensus, participants left the meeting with renewed hope that Ndu Subdivision long known as a peace-loving community can reclaim its tradition of coexistence and mutual respect.

The presence of Hon. Mbongnyor Naomi Ngando at the peace talks was widely welcomed, reinforcing the importance of parliamentary support in grassroots peace-building efforts and underlining the shared responsibility of elected officials and local authorities in safeguarding social harmony.

As Ndu continues its journey toward reconciliation, stakeholders expressed optimism that the dialogue marks a turning point a new beginning anchored on unity, justice, and enduring peace.
