The Deputy Speaker rewards outstanding pupils at Bulu Camp of Pamol Estate and calls for sustained investment in education
Hon. Muyali Mary Boya Epouse Meboka. Member of Parliament Representing Ndian has reaffirmed her commitment to promoting academic excellence and investing in the next generation, using the opening of the 2026–2027 school year to recognise pupils who distinguished themselves through outstanding performance.
The ceremony, held on September 3, 2026, at Bulu Camp of the Pamol Estate in Mundemba, brought together parents, teachers, local dignitaries and members of the community for the presentation of educational materials to the best-performing pupils of the 2025–2026 academic year.
The initiative was anchored in a simple principle: excellence deserves recognition, and merit should inspire others to strive for greater achievement.
From Primary one through Class Six, the three top-performing pupils in each class, drawn from several primary schools in the municipality, were called forward to receive their awards from the parliamentarian, to sustained applause from the gathering.
For Honourable Muyali Mary Boya Epouse Meboka, who is also a traditional title holder , the initiative represents far more than a gesture of generosity. It is, she said, an investment in the human capital upon which the future of Mundemba and the wider Ndian Division depends.
“We must celebrate merit in order to inspire others,” she said, emphasising the need to place education at the centre of the development agenda.
The pupils received school supplies, including exercise books, backpacks and writing materials practical support intended to ease some of the financial pressures confronting families at the beginning of a new academic year.
For many households, the assistance comes at a particularly important time. The rising cost of living has made the purchase of basic school necessities increasingly difficult for some families, making educational support both a practical intervention and a source of encouragement.
But the significance of the ceremony extended beyond the materials distributed.
By publicly honouring high-performing pupils, Honourable Meboka sought to reinforce a culture in which hard work, discipline and academic achievement are valued and celebrated. Her message was directed not only at those receiving awards, but also at the wider community: today’s outstanding pupils could become tomorrow’s professionals and leaders.
In a community that has experienced economic difficulties and the broader effects of the sociopolitical crisis in the South-West Region, education remains a critical pathway to opportunity and social mobility.
