NGUTI POPULATION RECEIVES NEW HOPE FROM HON. FONGE

Honourable Nfonge Julius Fongouk reinforces education drive during the launch of the President Paul Biya Peace, Unity and Solidarity Holiday Tournament.

Honourable Nfonge Julius Fongouk, Member of Parliament for the Kupe-Muanenguba II Constituency, has unveiled a major back-to-school support initiative, donating 7,500 exercise books and assorted didactic materials to pupils and students across Nguti Municipality during the official launch of the President Paul Biya Peace, Unity and Solidarity Holiday Tournament at the Nguti Municipal Stadium.

Addressing administrative authorities, traditional and religious leaders, elected officials, CPDM party executives, campaign committee members and members of the public, the parliamentarian described the annual holiday tournament as a powerful instrument for promoting peace, unity and social cohesion among the people of Nguti.

The tournament, sponsored by Tah Okie Johnson Ndoh, was praised for its enduring contribution to youth empowerment and community mobilization. Honourable Nfonge Julius Fongouk commended the sponsor for sustaining an initiative that has become a rallying point for residents during the July-August holiday period.

Inspired by the unifying impact of the sporting event, the MP announced a complementary educational intervention aimed at easing the burden on families ahead of the 2026–2027 academic year.

The donation includes 7,500 exercise books, together with pens, pencils, rulers and erasers, for distribution to learners in 50 primary schools and 18 secondary schools across Nguti Municipality. The materials will be distributed through local structures to ensure they reach functional schools throughout the municipality.

Honourable Nfonge Julius Fongouk said the initiative seeks to encourage school attendance by reducing the financial burden on parents while complementing ongoing efforts by community leaders and education stakeholders to promote access to education.

In addition to the school supplies, the legislator donated 20 classroom benches in response to concerns over inadequate classroom furniture in some schools. He indicated that further assistance could be considered as resources become available.

The Member of Parliament stressed that investing in education is central to preparing the next generation of professionals who will contribute to Cameroon’s long-term development ambitions. He encouraged parents to continue prioritizing education and urged young people to take advantage of the opportunities provided through the initiative.

The launch of the President Paul Biya Peace, Unity and Solidarity Holiday Tournament highlighted the growing link between sports, education and community development in Nguti, with both initiatives reinforcing a shared commitment to youth empowerment, peace and national progress.
