West Region Governor Granted Audience by National Assembly Speaker

The Governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine, was granted an audience on Monday by the Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly, The Right Honourable Theodore Datouo, in Bangou, where both officials reviewed the political, administrative, economic, social and security situation of the region.

What began as a courtesy audience developed into a substantive exchange lasting nearly two hours, reflecting the importance both institutions attach to close consultation on matters affecting the development and stability of the West Region.

During the audience, Governor Awa Fonka Augustine presented a comprehensive assessment of the region, outlining political developments, economic trends, administrative affairs, socio-cultural dynamics and the prevailing security situation across its various divisions.

“We spent time with him evaluating the political, economic, administrative and socio-cultural situation of the West Region,” the governor told reporters after the audience.

According to the governor, the Speaker listened attentively to the presentation and expressed appreciation for the detailed overview of conditions on the ground.

“It was a very productive exchange and, in the end, he appreciated the report presented on the actual situation in the field,” Awa Fonka Augustine said.

The audience underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between the legislative and administrative institutions of the State, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening governance, promoting peace and ensuring that public action remains closely aligned with the needs and aspirations of the people of the West Region.

The nearly two-hour audience also highlighted the continued coordination between the National Assembly and regional authorities in addressing development priorities and maintaining institutional cohesion in support of national objectives.
